History
- When Arthur Guinness signed a 9,000 year lease on his brewery at St. James’s Gate, Dublin, it was a statement of belief in the beer he brewed. Now, over 260 years later, Guinness is the world’s favourite stout, with more than 10 million glasses sold every day across 150 countries.
- GUINNESS DRAUGHT:
- Guinness Draught was first brewed in 1959 to celebrate the 200-year anniversary of Arthur Guinness signing his lease. It was the first beer to use nitrogen, which gives Guinness Draught its velvety-smooth texture and the iconic ‘surge’ as it settles after the unique Two Part Pour.
- GUINNESS FOREIGN EXTRA STOUT:
- Guinness Foreign Extra Stout traces its beginnings to a recipe from 1801, brewed with more hops to survive the long sea journeys to tropical climates. The bulldog on the neck label of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout is unique to Malaysia, and has featured on bottles sold here for more than 100 years.
Process
- Guinness uses barley roasted at exactly 232 degrees Celsius, giving it its distinct, deep ruby-red colour and roasted flavour. Combined with twice the hops used in most other beers and the special Guinness Yeast, making it a stout Made of More.
Awards
- Guinness Foreign Extra Stout was awarded a Gold Medal in the Imperial Stout category at the World Beer Awards 2019
Key Campaigns
- Guinness encourages people to open up over a pint with friends and co-workers with its Guinness Time platform.
- Guinness also celebrates the transformative power of heat with its Flavour by Fire platform, a festival which pairs the roasted flavours of Guinness Draught with food cooked over an open flame by talented local chefs.
- As a nod to its Irish heritage, Guinness is the world’s most prominent supporter of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in Malaysia and across the world.
