Growing with Communities
Our goal is to make a difference within local communities in Malaysia through targeted conservation outreach campaigns, education programmes and collaborative partnerships.
Beginning our operation in 2007, we strive to actively enrich the lives of communities in areas where our business operates in. On our 10th year anniversary, we reflected upon our achievements and moved forward with a new vision to keep up with the evolving environment.
This year, we take on a new identity as SPARK Foundation. Our new identity comes together with a new resolve: to create a real impact for our communities and the environment. We will spark our approach to play our role in the community with a whole new energy, through strategic partnerships in the areas which have the biggest significance for us, including water and education.

At HEINEKEN Malaysia, social sustainability is one of our key ESG pillars as part of our Brew A Better World sustainability commitments. Under this pillar, we are committed to deliver a positive social impact for our local communities. Since 1994, through our Tiger Chinese Education Charity Concert, we have helped raise over RM360 million for schools in Malaysia. In 2021, due to the pandemic, we shifted the community concerts to a digital platform, successfully raising RM5.96 million for 5 schools. Check out the video to learn more about the impact we have made!
ENGLISH ENRICHMENT TRAINING PROGRAMME (EETP)
In 2012, SPARK Foundation launched the English Enrichment Training Programme (EETP) which aims to equip English language teachers in rural communities with contemporary and creative teaching techniques. Teachers who participated in the EETP are provided support to conduct additional English language classes for Year 1 to Year 3 students in their respective schools, creating a fun and engaging platform to inspire interest in learning the language.
The educators undergo an intensive three day programme in which they apply the techniques in 22 English supplementary classes over 10 months. Post-training support is provided while the teaching content is reviewed every year to ensure the topics and modules are in line with the national school curriculum.
